Understanding line sync and expected speeds
The actual speed achieved depends upon the distance
from the cabinet and quality of the telephone line. At certain times,
congestion within the network may also result in reduced speeds. In all
cases we will provide you with an estimated "sync range" that your telephone
line will support prior to agreeing a contract with ourselves. Nationally,
10% of our customers receive average throughput speeds of 35.00 Mbit/s where
customers have taken Option 1 or 2 and average throughput speeds of 67.00
Mbit/s where customers have taken Option 3. These figures were correct
as of January 2020. We
will happily go into detailed specifics.
How long will it take to transfer from a ADSL broadband
service to Aquiss Fibre?
Transferring an active broadband service from another Internet Service Provider are generally completed within 12 working days, although it's often less than this. Bulk transfers can take up to 14 working days depending on quantity. You can expect a short service interruption of between 20 minutes and 2 hours on the day of transfer.
Migrations to Aquiss from a copper based ADSL service to a Aquiss FTTC fibre
services are currently FREE, saving £96.00 (inc VAT). If you're
looking to migrate from a current fibre service, please see the next
question/answer.
Do I have a choice of installation options with Aquiss?
Yes. We offer a couple of different installation choices with our FTTC products. The first option being a Wires-Only Self Install solution, where no engineer will attend the property directly and the second solution being an appointed Managed Engineer Install option, where an engineer will arrive at the property. The Wires-Only Self Install option is the perfect choice where time off work is not possible.
What hardware will I need to supply in order to work with the Aquiss FTTC service?
You will need to supply a VDSL Fibre Router with an built-in modem (a combined unit). An older ADSL router will not work with fibre services. All phone sockets within the property will also need to have a filter attached if not done so already.
What about Traffic Shaping, Traffic Management,
Traffic Throttling or Port Blocking?
A question that many services providers will hide
in their terms and conditions or claim denial, or worst still, will deploy
without notice. That's not Aquiss. Our approach is to be open and upfront,
right from the start. This question normally comes from our more technical
customers, so we have prepared a larger technical document which can be
found by
clicking here.
If I want to end my contract, is there a charge?
Maybe, depending on what you're looking to do. If you are not moving your broadband service to another ISP, there would be a £33.33 Broadband Cease fee. However, if you have decided to move your active broadband service to another Internet Provider (migrating away from Aquiss), no Broadband Cease fee would be applied by Aquiss, as long as the new provider follows the correct migrating procedures. Of course, if there are any remaining months left on your minimum contract to complete, you would need to settle these in full. It should be noted that a Broadband Cease Fee would also be triggered if your telephone service is cancelled causing our broadband service to be ceased.
I am moving home, is there a charge?
Yes. There will be a £33.33 Broadband Cease fee to end the service at your current property. If there are any
remaining months left on your minimum contract to complete, whilst at this property, you would also need to settle these in full. Contracts are not transferred between properties. Reactivation charges at your new property are possible,
subject to contract options available and availability. It should be noted that charges will also be triggered
if your telephone service is cancelled causing our broadband service to be ceased.
Available payment options
We offer a wide range of payment options that can be setup securely via our online eBilling platform. These include Direct Debit, Credit and Debit cards (including Amex), Bank Transfer and Standing Order.
Can I have a brief summary of possible charges?
Yes, of course. Excluding any offers, if you're
having FTTC installed for the first time, there will be a £0.00
(one-off) charge. You may have to purchase a VDSL fibre router. Your monthly charge will depend on the
option selected. You will be comitted to a contract for the minimum contract
period of 12 months.

generally have a few unanswered questions that we have not managed to get squeezed
onto this page. We have therefore prepared an extended FAQ guide which can be

Experience customer service the way it should be
We were founded in 2005 as an independent, vibrant, family owned Internet Service Provider business, which still remains the case today. We are an extremely approachable company to work with, which is reflected by our customers staying with Aquiss for an average of 7 years. Our reviews also speak for themselves. We have never dropped outside the top 5 rated ISPs for over 10 years on ISPreview and we are also rated 5* on both Trustpilot and Google Reviews. What we do at Aquiss, we do well, as can be seen by the reviews below. |
